PAF: abstract

Photo Art Friday is starting up again and it's one of my favorite things to do.  Bonnie's textures (see her free selection) are so unusual and create such amazing, unique, unexpected results.  But for me, that means even more playing than usual since I have no idea what I'm going to get when I start.

This week was a gentle re-entry - pick a fave from last year.  Well, since I found her late and didn't do much, I just went ahead and made something new.  She posted a tutorial on creating abstract art with a photo or two and a fanciful texture.  So, that's what I did.

Here are the photos I started with:
The ceiling at the Indy 500 museum.
Front yard frosty leaves.
Taken at the Montreal, Canada botanical garden.

This is what I came up with......

It's a lot of work to get a screen shot on here so I may not do it much, but for this time, here's my recipe starting at the bottom duplicated background.

Background: multiply @ 80%
Rectangle shape:  tan, normal @ 100%
Leaves:  color dodge @ 46%
Rectangle shape:  dk lavender, normal @ 75%
Plant:  difference @ 100%
Little rectangle: a piece of the larger one @ 40% to change up the colors

The main ingredient is the level at "difference" - it changed all the colors and made something entirely new.  I played with the order and colors and could have done so for another hour.....but that'll be for another day.

Lots of others participate and with less abstract-ness so visit the links for some great photography.  I'm also sharing this on Creative Every Day - a site that encourages you to stretch your creativity daily (hence the title, duh) even if it's only setting a pretty table. There's also an active flickr group to check out if you're so inclined.
