On Tuesday I shared one version of the Vermont covered bridge photo I took and how Kim's textures were used to adjust it. Today I used a couple of Bonnie's for a totally different result.
Original photo:
After textures:
I started by using some PSE filters: paint daubs and cutout to simplify the shapes and make it feel a little painterly. Then I added Old Linen Shirt at linear dodge 25% for the canvas like texture. Medieval Magic at 65% soft light then duplicated and at saturation 75%. I haven't used the saturation feature before and it actually reduces the saturation, not increases it which seems counter intuitive. But, I like the softer, older coloration in this version.
TextureTuesday version:
The texture layers I used from Kim heightened the colors and warmed the image overall. SUCH different results. And so much fun to just keep endlessly playing and learning.
Linking to Bonnie's Photo Art Friday so come on over. Bet yet, join in.
Wonderful!!!! You, at least I think, couldn't have picked a better subject. Covered bridges by themselves are a work of art...and you managed to enhance its beauty.
ReplyDeleteToday, I have two art pieces....one church and one iris. You'll need to scroll down a bit on my blog entry to view. Do come by and visit if you can find time. CLICK HERE Have a great Friday.
Amazing looking bridge...and I agree with you, I prefer the first edit best.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are amazing structures aren't they? I love the processing you've done, giving a painterly effect on that second one :)
ReplyDeleteLove this version of a covered bridge: it looks like a barn. I like the colours in your original photo best.
ReplyDeleteOh you are right both versions are so different. The muted one reminds me of a 1960's type photo. The brighter version is quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to see the effects of the different textures! Both are very effective.
ReplyDeleteCovered bridges are beautiful & so full of history! Beautiful creations! =)
ReplyDeleteIt is so much fun to see the different effects we can produce with digital editing and textures. Thanks so much for sharing your artwork with PAF Terrie.
ReplyDeletelove all the different effects. beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery nice post-processing.
ReplyDeleteRegards and best wishes
Beautiful work. I love these old structures.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting. I really like the texture work and painterly feel to the final outcome. Visiting from PAF. Karen
ReplyDeleteWow, such differences - this is interesting, thank you for posting it, Terrie. I have to say that I like the "Kim version" a bit more which is mainly due to the fact that I am a color person (and especially autumn colors).
ReplyDeleteTwo totally different looks. I like the toned down saturation using Kim's texture and I think I like the "warmed" version even more! I enjoy your work, Terrie.
