APR and IA share the art

Amazingly I was able to combine two of my favorite challenges - APR (artists playroom) and IA (inspiration avenue).  Jenn (APR) challenged us to illustrate a word.  I mulled all week on what word and how I'd illustrate it...summer, sunshine - nope, been there, done that.  Peace, Love, Happy - nope, no illustration inspiration.  Then I checked on IA and found their challenge is "if you could be anywhere".  W-E-L-L......  I considered my first choices:  home, w/ Dan, tropical beach - nope.  Then, it popped into my brain.

If I could be anywhere (with Dan), we'd be on a Baltic cruise....we've wanted to go for several years and keep planning it and then having to postpone (they're kind of pricey).  So, my simplistic illustration of a word is BALTIC!

I used my spritz color wash colors to evoke the feeling of the Baltic sea (though I imagine it's a darker blue rather than the bright teal of the Caribbean) and then tangled my letters.  Join us aboard ship anyone?

  2. Hi sweetie,
glad to see you could actually find time after getting home from vacation, all that unpacking and laundry is always such a pain. I love the idea of the cruise. Have always wanted to. I like the idea of being in something that won't get lost, lol. Thanks for entering, Love your zentangling.
    Best,
    Jenn

  3. Love the zentangle Terrie and the spritz colour wash is amazing...but I'm not sure about the cruise.
Oh I know it sounds wonderful and to visit all those beautiful places ideal, but I could only go at the right time of year...I'm a woos in the cold weather. Temperature over 16c and I'll be there!

But you do make me want to start another page in my journal...which is quite a feat really because I didn't think I'd want to go near it again after that first page. So thank you ;D
Have a great weekend whatever you get up to ~ have fun :D

  4. Gorgeous Terrie! I would LOVE to do a Baltic cruise as well. One of my co-workers went last year and was kind enough to bring me a brochure--total torture. One day...maybe we'll meet each other on the deck! ;-)

  5. Hi Terrie! Your Baltic sea is beautiful, i love the movement of the color and your lettering!just like waves, so perfect! A cruise to the Baltic sounds really interesting! I've never been on a cruise, but if the hubby & i could go, think we'd cruise Alaska. Thank you so much for entering the IA challenge! :D

  6. what a clever soul you are, Terrie!! I have been on one cruise and I liked it... I think, however, my preferred vessel for travelling on water is canoe.

  7. I would love to do a Baltic trip one day.... and the Croatian coast... I have a friend who is there at the moment and she is sending through the most amazing pics... the colour of this looks just like the colour of water she has been showing me... so maybe you need to add Croatia to that as well... it would be a nice way to warm up after all that icy weather in Russia and Scandinavia... Phantom has suggested she join you as she has been learning Russian... so I am thinking you could take her off my hands for quite a break.... sounds good to me !!!!! xx

  15. I'm only little, so I could fit in your suitcase!! Love the colours you used and the tangle is so good. That blue is so gorgeous. As you know, I'm teaching myself art, and don't know a thing about all these inks and painty things. Could you let me know what the spritzy stuff is, so I can have a play in my journal?
