inspiration ave: words

Words.  My fave.  I love reading; I love quotes; I love inspirational snippets (poetry, not so much).  Look what I've made using words, photography, paint, whatever.....   Be sure to visit Inspiration Avenue to see other interpretations of this theme (in honor of poetry month).

Sometimes the words are more subtle ("share" is collaged and painted over, there is French text on the wings)

Taken yesterday at the Washington tulip fields.  (more of these to come)

But, here are my favorite words - bound in book after book, all for anyone's reading pleasure and enrichment.  I was cleaning my bookshelves so had them stacked on the floor so I could dust ... man oh man books collect a lot of dust.  I read everything from mysteries to family sagas to popular novels (The Hunger Games, The Help) or what's showing up on a "Best of" list, or books about other cultures or .... I do tend to read mostly fiction though I've been known to pick up a 'teaching' or 'enlightening' book now and then.  Do you have one I need to add to my list?

By the way, I'm tracking all my reading for this year on my Reading List tab at the top of the page so you can see what I'm reading at any given time.

I love words.

Words were my life, but now images seem more immediate, though I've always got two or three books on the go. Thanks for sharing both.
    Stay inspired!

  6. Each of you pieces of word art is gorgeous so I can't choose a favorite. I always have a book going, I'm going to have to look at your book list for suggestions. Recently finished The Hummingbirds Daughter and enjoyed it a lot. (Review on my blog a few posts back)

  7. I was by earlier. I got an error. I got kicked off your blog. I couldn't log back on. I couldn't do anything. I thought I had a virus, but called my service provider, who helped me get logged back on. A huge sigh of relief here.

Love the butterfly entry with the French text. And my spring flowers like those shown in you photo, are now gone. The tulips have been gone for nearly three weeks, and my daffodils have been gone over a month. My iris are now in bloom and so are my peonies, which are nearly a month ahead of schedule. At least there is never a timetable for books and words!

  8. Ooh all these pieces are amazing! The florals are beautifully simple and peaceful yet very elegant, what a gorgeous painter-ly effect they have too. Love the composition and mixed media in the butterfly piece.
