Her inspirational image this week is this rainbow sherbet. Although I'm actually not much of an ice cream fan, I do love the colors, so.......
Obviously feeling very abstract the last couple days. I bought a bottle of ink that I wanted to try with a brush instead of a dropper so that was the beginning of my first effort on 6x9 watercolor paper. The second, in my journal, is tissue papers, washi, paint, oil pastel crayons and the diamond grid is a stencil using a rubber sink protector from the dollar store. The opposite page has the reverse where I cleaned it off - just waiting for my next inspiration....
Looks like a lot of rainbow sherbet!!!! :D :D

ReplyDeleteI'm playing along with summer of color too and was so excited to see this combo as our first prompt. haven't managed my blog post about it yet. hopefully later today. in my alternate-universe I'll be joining you for the Jane Davies class in Portland. (a favorite artist in a favorite city and a chance to meet a favorite blogger? that's the trifecta) in my real universe I will stay in Massachusetts and eagerly wait to see what you learned from the experience.

ReplyDeleteLove the color prompt. You can't help but have fun with those colors. Your abstract pieces are great. The first one totally made me think of Jane. Hope you're able to get into her class. Portland huh? It's not that far....

I have actually been known to do the roll and stuff while eating and ice cream!!!... if your work wasn't looking so gorgeous then I would be a bit worried about you... I love that top one and can't wait to see what you learn when you go to the course... it is going to have spectacular results...xx

ReplyDeleteI live in Colorado actually. I am going to stay in Portland for a few days for the retreat! I am taking Jesse Reno's class for sure and still have to add another, probably Mindy Lacefield.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. The only reason that I was able to get more than one piece done is that they were all pretty small. I want to at lest paint a page in my journal and do a small quilt for each challenge this summer.
