So I started with watercolor backgrounds (I miss using my watercolors - they've been pushed aside in my eagerness to try all sorts of new things). My thought with the top drawing was to use the watercolor shapes to dictate where birds would go. Made a couple of early goofs so it became my trial-error-sketch page.....
I had fun playing with my bird and dandelion motifs.....there's LOTS more room to work with this and I'll be doing it because I love birds and I can almost draw a couple of generic shapes.....at least well enough that they're recognizable as birds! :)
Last year I made a mini series of palm trees using different media - collage, paint, etc.
Also, watercolors painting trees:
Visit Jenn at Just Add Water Silly to see even more great examples of working in a series. Or maybe someone will paint/draw something about a baseball 'world series', or a television series or a ......
Look at you with all of your series! I love your birds and dandelions!! They make me think of summer days with soft cooling breezes. Sometimes it's nice to return to old friends like your watercolours. In response to your comment on my dreamboard, I've been collecting images since high school...I'm a bit of an addict! I'll cut them out of anything!!
ReplyDeleteI like the birds and the trees, too. Nice! They count--yes! :):)
ReplyDeleteWow, Terrie, these are fantastic. Those birds are adorable. Your watercolour skies are beautiful. Those trees are fabulous, I love the leaf areas and those trunks. Trees are something that I have never been able to do, they always look like lollipops. You have an excellent series of series :)
ReplyDeleteVon.
Well you've covered some of my favourite things here Terrie, birds and trees...what more could you want?
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolour backgrounds ~ the skies are stunning which sets everything else off so well. Plus the birds and dandelions are brilliant! :D
I know you had a break and are feeling all refreshed and everything but this is a serious case of overachieving!!!! I especially love the tree series... can't wait to see more...xx
ReplyDeleteHehehe, I'm totally on Tracey's side, holy cow, you're our little over achiever for this week, missy. All are adorable and pretty but I think it's SO unfair to making me pick between them all. What are you trying to DO to me?? Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jenn
I love those birds. At one time, I even thought I might be able to draw one. But yours are all so beautiful. Some whimsical, some realistic. But I love them all!
ReplyDeleteThese are great, Terrie!
ReplyDeleteSuch a variety of styles and techniques... thank you for sharing your talents.
You have them in sets of four, just add a few more to the series and you can create your very own art-zine... imagine that!! :]
Take care ~xx
These are all so incredible! Each time I see wonderful art I SO wish I could draw/paint *sigh* But I shall content myself with looking and admiring. And here, I definitely, admire :0)
ReplyDeleteSmashing display of artwork Terrie, can see you are having loads of fun. x
ReplyDeleteSweet tweets and festive trees. Like all of your explorations in series, Those dandilion flowers are enchanting. xox

Lovely artwork, Terrie....especially the trees! :)
ReplyDeleteI love all your birds and trees Terri! You could make any and all of them into cards. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI think your birds are fabulous, Terrie, and the trees... reminds me how much I MISS the changes of season as seen in trees. Of course, I love the green green all year here, and the ocean, and there IS a sort of shift here, even still...
ReplyDeleteThanks again for opening a door for me. I was inspired by your share to DO ICAD and Now Artist's Play Room!! Thanks so much!!
Look at you go Terrie!! Wow... these are all gorgeous and I can't pick a favorite! Beautifully done. :) Warmly, Tracy
