inspiration ave: butterflies

Butterflies - this prompt from Inspiration Ave is broad enough (or maybe too broad) that I couldn't settle on an idea.  Then as I was working on a mixed media piece, the idea for some soft abstract-ish watercolor butterflies came to me so I took a break and painted these.

Also, as I was working on my digital art contribution to PAF, digital butterflies just seemed to fit the direction that art was headed, so here's another butterfly piece - in a totally different vein.

See them all fluttering around the 'cave' opening? :)

  6. I like the directions you took. It was if your brain was fluttering along, trying to decide which way to take this challenge. You always make such incredible art, I'm super impressed. I can't do either of the things you did today: digital art or painting. Your work always appeals to me.

  7. That should have read "AS if your brain." Unlike mine which has not had enough sleep.

  9. Terrie, I swear I'm not stalking you (grin), but came back to answer your question about my butterfly. I was planning to make this a transfer, then went with the easier way. I printed this butterfly several years ago on some paper someone gave me. It was about the thickness of dress maker's paper, but in tablet form. The actual cover of the tablet was gone, so I have no idea what it was. For this project, I cut around the butterfly and used gel medium to add it to the wet wet wipe. Thanks for asking. I should probably add that info to the blog post.

  13. The size of the first ones are so impressive, they are beautifully dominating! The second one is such a "wow" with the colors, and imagery- it's stunning.
